- Mind is instantiated in subjects, and a subject is constituted whenever a symbolic system is shared among multiple biological organisms
- A subject is faithful to a truth when the symbolic system it shares is used to choose to change an existing ideology to accommodate that truth, which is called forcing the truth; a subject is unfaithful to a truth that has appeared in an ideology when the subject either obstructs this process by seeking to obscure the distinction between the existing ideology and the newly arisen ideology, or reacts against this process by seeking to maintain the hegemony of the ideology that is unable to accommodate that truth
